'Please help me to help others'

A 13-year-old schoolboy from East Yorkshire has the chance to go on an “amazing” adventure but he needs your help.

Adam Thompson, of Hedon, has put himself forward for a four-week expedition to Peru, with global social enterprise Camps International. It will mean the Holderness Academy & Sixth Form College student will be supporting Peruvian communities with projects such as helping to renovate houses, building toilets and reforesting areas.

First, Adam needs to cover all his costs - £4,720 - and has set up a GoFundMe appeal page. He has 18 months to raise the amount and will be 15 when the camp comes around.

He said: “I have been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to Peru with Camps International to help support local Peruvian communities. I will be renovating houses, building community centres and supporting conservation and reforestation projects.
