Man convicted of rape dies in prison a year into sentence

A HULL man who was convicted of raping a woman has died in prison.

Brian Walters was 67 years old when he was sentenced in July 2023.

Judge Mark Bury told Mr Walters he had plied the victim with drink “to the point where she was incapable of looking after herself”.

The victim told Hull Crown Court she was “out of it” and “could hardly stand up” after sharing nearly 30 cans of Fosters lager with Mr Walters.

The victim said she recalled Mr Walters having sex with her but could not remember much about what happened.

“T can't remember how I came to be naked but I was fully naked,’ she said.
