Looking for kids with courage

NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR AMY JOHNSON CUP THAT RECOGNISES CHILDREN'S BRAVERY

ENTRIES are being welcomed for a prize named after an aviation pioneer who hailed from Hull. The Amy Johnson Cup for Courage dates back to the 1930s and is awarded to Hull-born children who have displayed courage of the highest order via a single act of bravery.

Created by Amy herself, funding for the Cup came from gold sovereigns presented to Amy by schoolchildren in Sydney after her historic flight from London in 1930, when she became the first woman pilot to fly solo between Britain and Australia. Lord Mayor of Hull Councillor Cheryl Payne is chair of the board of trustees that assesses nominations for the award.
