PROMOTION-CHASING SKY BLUES DENIED DESERVED VICTORY AS TIGERS SCRAPE A POINT AT THE MKM

Kamara hands City lifeline with precious late goal

Hull City snatched what could be a crucial point with Abu Kamara’s late equaliser to snatch a 1-1 draw with Coventry City at the MKM Stadium.

City conceded yet another calamitous own goal just seconds into the second half, with play-off-bound Coventry City the latest to benefit from the Tigers’ generosity, before the hosts finally scrambled in an equaliser eight minutes from time.

The first half was goalless, and while Ivor Pandur made four good saves to deny Haji Wright and Ellis Simms, the gilt-edged chance fell near the end of the first 45 minutes when Kasey Palmer somehow managed not to score from close range after Regan Slater's cutback.

It felt crucial at the time, and so it very nearly proved.

Just as it did against Luton Town, disaster struck at the start of the second half when Matt Grimes’ volley cannoned off Charlie Hughes and into the back of the net, wrongfooting Pandur, and that was that, before the Tigers salvaged it late on.

Ruben Selles made two changes from the side beaten last Tuesday at Watford with John Egan and Palmer coming back into the start at the expense of Alfie Jones and Matt Crooks, with Lincoln keeping his place in the side for a full home debut. Jones and Crooks were on the bench where there was a return for fit-again Gustavo Puerta.
