Hull's most unique 1990s nightclub the Manxman
Hull Daily Mail

OF ALL of Hull's 1990s nightclubs, and there were many, the Manxman was certainly among the most unique.
The venue was, of course, a former steamship that found its way to the city's Ruscador Dry Dock after almost 30 years of traversing the Irish Sea between Liverpool and Douglas, on the Isle Of Man, though occasionally also took in other routes, heading to places such as Dublin, Belfast and Llandudno.
The Birkenhead-built vessel even became a film star, including being cast in the role of the ship that came to the Titanic's aid - the RMS Carpathia - for the 1979 movie SOS Titanic, but its main career ended in 1982, and it sailed from Liverpool to Preston where it was intended to become a floating museum.
However, it was converted into a floating nightclub instead, but as the River Ribble began to silt up, it was reported the decision had to be made whether to move the Manxman away or leave it there forever.
