Hollywood stars serve up a host of French fancies

TRUE to my prediction last week, it didn't take long for the rules around nudity and oversized frocks to be hurled out the French windows at Cannes.

The opening ceremony of the film festival saw 50-year-old French actress and model Frédérique Bel stride on to the red carpet in a gold sequin dress with the full peekaboo trifecta of plunging neckline, mesh cut-outs and thigh-high slit. So now the whole world and not just fans of French cinema knows her name.

Job done, Fréd.

Of course, she wasn't the only one to flash a bit of flesh and there have been a few tricky-to-traverse-trains on gowns too.

But on the whole, the nipple count has definitely been down.

Whether falling over or simply looking fabulous, Jennifer Lawrence is always good value on the red carpet.

She is also no stranger to flouting the Cannes dress code. Back in 2023 the Hunger Games star made headlines for wearing flip-flops.
