Gareth Gates, who first sprang to prominence when he was runner-up in ITV 's Pop Idol that same year, starred in the region's biggest pantomime 20 years later when he appeared on the Hull New Theatre stage in the title role of Jack and the Beanstalk. Now, the Noughties legend is on his way back to the city where he can be seen as you have never seen him before.
