A NEW exhibition exploring the history and development of the railway in Hull has now opened at Hull History Centre, Hull City Council has announced.

The free exhibition, called Tracks Through Time: The Story of Hull's Railways, will guide visitors on a journey from the opening of the first line in 1840, through to the privatisation of the industry in the 1990s and beyond.

Key themes will be explored, including transmigration, the First and Second World Wars, stations and locomotives, and the men and women who built and worked on the tracks.
