Beverley let victory slip from their grasp

FOR the second week running Beverley turned certain victory into defeat at the very death.

For the whole of the second half they led Dinnington, mostly with a two-score cushion, only to concede two last-ditch tries to lose 39-38.

The first was mainly the result of being marched back 20 metres through continued dissent at a penalty in their own half, receiving a yellow card to boot, and the second the result of some poor tackling in midfield.

Dinnington had started strongly and were ahead after only two minutes with a try in the corner.

A Rob Smith penalty got Beverley going, only to be quickly cancelled out by one for Dinnington.

In the early stages it looked as though Beverley, for the second week running, were going to struggle to retain possession but they gradually settled down and started to get a foothold.
