Beavers wait for win after loss at Pythons
Hull Daily Mail
|October 21, 2025
BEVERLEY RUFC put in another wholeharted effort but saw another victory snatched away at the death, going down 29-17 at Harrogate Pythons.
-
It leaves them once again waiting for their first league win of the season.
They might have had it here, having fought back to take the lead with not much more than five minutes left but Pythons with two powerful finishes at the very end ran away with it.
For 20 minutes neither side was able to make much impression on the other's defence and play was almost entirely concentrated between the two 22s.
Two fine tackles by Matty King did deny Pythons when they nearly got in at the corner but otherwise neither side looked like breaking the deadlock.
Beverley's defending was splendid all afternoon and the pack more than held their own against a bigger, more powerful unit.
Eventually the deadlock was broken by Pythons after half an hour, moving the ball quickly wide from a scrum on the 22 to cross for an unconverted try.
