'UNBELIEVABLE’ EYE TEST FAILURE ONE OF MANY AS POLICE MAKE ROADSIDE CHECKS IN SAFETY CAMPAIGN
North wales Police officers carry out checks as part of a UK-wide campaign to improve safety on the roads called Operation Dark Night
A driver had an “unbelievable” eye test failure as part of police checks on hundreds of drivers.
Officers were out in Holyhead and Bangor where police said 320 vehicles were stopped and drivers were asked to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres - the primary legal vision standard for driving in the UK.
The checks were carried out by North Wales officers from the Roads Crime Unit as part of Operation Dark Night - a UK-wide police campaign coordinated by the NPCC (National Police Chief's Council) to improve road safety, especially as nights become longer after the clocks go back.
