Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officer Kulbhushan Bansal, who was suspended earlier this week on charges of sexually assaulting a Dalit sweeper posted in the state public health department, was arrested on Saturday and sent to one-day police custody, officials aware of the matter said.

Additional superintendent of police (Hisar) Rajesh Kumar Mohan said Bansal was arrested after the worker lodged a complaint on Thursday accusing him of making casteist remarks and sexually exploiting him for six months. The officer, who had been serving as the Hansi sub-divisional magistrate, was suspended on Thursday.
