Israel conducts limited ground op inside Gaza

Israel bombarded Gaza with more air strikes on Monday as its soldiers fought Hamas militants on the ground in raids within the besieged Palestinian enclave of 2.3 million.

Gaza's health ministry said 436 people had been killed by Israeli aerial attacks between Sunday and Monday, most of them in the south of the narrow, densely populated Gaza Strip.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh on Monday accused western nations of giving Israel a "licence to kill" in its war against Hamas.
In signs that the conflict was spreading, Israeli aircraft also struck southern Lebanon overnight and Israeli troops fought Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, residents said.
The United Nations said desperate civilians were running out of food, water and places to shelter from the unrelenting aerial pounding that has flattened swathes of the Hamas-ruled enclave.
Some aid was trickling over one border crossing into Gaza - but only a fraction of the amount needed.
The war, in its 17th day on Monday, is the deadliest of five Gaza wars for both sides. The Hamasrun health ministry said that at least 5,087 Palestinians have been killed and 15,270 wounded. In the occupied West Bank, 96 Palestinians have been killed and 1,650 wounded in violence and Israeli raids since October 7.
