Indian-origin family found murdered in US

A wealthy Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter were found dead inside their home in the US state of Massachusetts on Thursday, in what police called a "deadly incident of domestic violence", police and media reports said.

Police found the bodies of Rakesh Kamal, 57, his wife, Teena, 54, and their 18-year-old daughter, Ariana, at their residence in the town of Dover, 24km southwest of the state capital Boston, at around 7.30pm on Thursday night, the Dover police department said in a statement. They were responding to a 911 call made by a relative who had stopped by to check on the family.

"Although the investigation is at a very preliminary stage, the evidence available at this time does not indicate the involvement of any outside party, but suggests that this is a deadly incident of domestic violence. It is not believed that there is any ongoing danger to the Dover community related to this incident," the statement said.

At a news conference on Friday, Norfolk district attorney Michael Morrissey confirmed the identities of the victims, adding that a gun was found next to Rakesh Kamal, CBS News reported. His did not elaborate on the circumstances of the  deaths. "All I can tell you is there was a gun on the premises, and it was apparent to all those that went in that all three members of the family were dead," Morrissey told reporters.
