HC summons OpenAI over ANI's copyright infringement petition

The Delhi high court on Tuesday issued summons to Open AI Inc, the creator of ChatGPT, in a copyright infringement suit filed by Asian News International (ANI) in which the news agency accused the American artificial intelligence (AI) research firm of "unauthorised use" of its original news to train responses via the chatbot.
A bench of justice Amit Bansal, however, refused to immediately restrain the platform from publishing ANI's content, after it was informed that the platform had blocklisted the news agency's domain in October.
"I am not inclined to grant any ad interim injunction order at this stage. This requires a detailed hearing. This is a complex issue," the bench said.
