DAG exhibits 18-19th century works

The DAG (formerly Delhi Art Gallery) opened its latest exhibition, A Treasury of Life: Indian Company Paintings, c. 1790-1835, on Saturday, showcasing artworks by Indian artists created for European patrons in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Hosted at DAG's Windsor Place gallery in Janpath, the exhibition runs until July 5 and is open from llam to 7pm, Monday to Saturday.
The exhibition features nearly 200 works from DAG's collection, including Asian Fairy Bluebird (Irena puella), A Brown Squirrel and a Black Squirrel, Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus), Chini ka Rauza, Agra, and Pilgrims at a Riverbank. It honours Indian artistsmany unnamed-who adapted their style to suit the tastes of European clients, particularly of the British East India Company.
