Class 9 student rapes 12-year-old, detained

A 14-year-old boy has been detained for raping a 12-year-old girl in Ilakal taluk in Bagalkot district of Karnataka while three of his friends have been detained for recording the incident, police officials said on Thursday.
The incident occurred on February 18, when the main accused, a student of class ninth lured the girl using chocolates to a vacant plot of land near a temple in the village where he raped her, the officials said.
The other three boys - one class eight and two class nine students recorded the incident on a phone, which they used to threaten the girl against reporting the incident, Ilakal (Rural) police inspector MS Sathi Gowdar said.
