CORAS, add'l GRP squads deployed at stations amid Maha Kumbh rush

Following the stampede that killed 18 people in Delhi on Saturday, Commandos for Railway Safety (CORAS) squads have been deployed at the Tatanagar station, with additional squads of Government Railway Police (GRP) also being deployed at Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and Dhanbad stations to manage the passenger rush for the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, officials said on Monday.
JAMSHEDPUR:
"We have set up passenger holding areas where Prayagraj and Uttar Pradesh-bound passengers are being kept and taken care of with all the necessities. They are being guided and boarded onto their trains by the RPF personnel only after their trains have arrived at the platforms. Ticket checking has been intensified, and no one is being allowed without a bona fide ticket at any given time. CORAS, RPF, and GRP squads have been helping in crowd management and ensuring that genuine passengers can board the trains safely," Aditya Kumar Choudhary, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr DCM) of Chakradharpur division under the South Eastern Railway (SER) zone, told HT on Monday.
