THE ATS STATED THAT IYASHAR HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN JAILED FOR A DECADE DUE TO HIS LINKS WITH INDIAN MUJAHIDEEN AND WAS RELEASED FROM PRISON IN MAY 2024
DHANBAD: The Jharkhand Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on April 30 arrested Ammar Yashar (33), a man allegedly linked to multiple banned terrorist organisations, days after four of his associates were arrested during raids in Dhanbad, officials said on Friday.
The police identified the man as Ammar Yashar (33), who was arrested following intelligence inputs.
"Yashar re-established ties with extremist organisations after his release, allegedly associating with Hizb ut-Tahrir (HuT) through his friend Ayan Javed. Javed, along with three others—Gulfam Hasan, Md. Shahzad Alam, and Shabnam Parveen— were arrested on April 26 from various locations in Dhanbad, including Wasseypur, during simultaneous raids conducted by the ATS," an official close to the matter said.
