Two traditions work their healing power

Gupta, drawing on his dual knowledge of Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, has highlighted the deep connections between these ancient systems.

"Both focus on treating the root cause rather than merely suppressing symptoms. They are based on the theory of five elements — although the terminology and interpretations differ slightly.

"The concept of qi in TCM and prana in Ayurveda is very similar. Yin and yang and Shakti-Shiva are equivalent to some extent."

For students, the crossover between the two disciplines offers fresh perspectives.
