Uproar in assembly, Cong stages walkout

- HT Correspondent

JAIPUR: Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully on Wednesday accused the government of changing rules at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS's) behest and challenged the RSS to launch a campaign in Rajasthan to end untouchability and uplift Dalits.

He also questioned the chief minister's stance on "Sanatan" values and criticised the state government for the delay in providing social security pensions to the poor during Diwali. They are still waiting for their pensions as Holi approaches, he added.

During the discussion on the Appropriation Bill in the Rajasthan assembly, Jully also criticised the government for spending over 100 crores on IIFA while failing to allocate funds for religious sites like Khatu Shyam Ji and Govind Dev Ji. He also condemned the distribution of ₹7 lakh golden passes free, pointing out that even ministers were left out of receiving them.

He added that no big Bollywood actor attended the IIFA event and they did not even visit any tourist places in Jaipur.
