Merge old green practices with tech advances: Khattar

It is time to modernise and integrate traditional sustainable practices with technological advancements, Union urban development minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Monday.
JAIPUR:
"The step wells, johads or tanks, handicrafts made from waste material are all examples of Rajasthan's rich legacy," Khattar said during the inauguration of the "12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia" in Jaipur.
"Circular economy is not just an environmental responsibility but an economic necessity for a sustainable future," he said.
He said industrialisation has led to an increase in waste and resource inefficiency. "Now is the time to modernise and integrate these traditional sustainable practices with technological advancements."
The inaugural session was attended by Khattar, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, minister of Solomon Islands Trevor Hedley Manemahaga, minister of Solomon Islands, Maina Vakafua Talia, and Ahmed Nizam, deputy minister of Climate Change of Maldives. Ministers from governments of Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh also attended the session.
