HC raps state govt for departmental inquiry delays

The Rajasthan high court has criticised the state government for its inordinate delay in concluding departmental inquiries and reprimanded officers-in-charge (OICs) for failing to provide timely information to the court in legal matters.
JODHPUR:
Justice Anoop Kumar Dhand, while hearing a petition on February 7 filed by retired employee Sardar Mal Yadav, directed the chief secretary to take urgent corrective steps to streamline inquiry processes and hold officials accountable for negligence.
The petitioner had filed his petition in 2012, challenging a departmental inquiry initiated against him. Despite the conclusion of the inquiry in 2014, the disciplinary authority has failed to issue a final order for over a decade.
