JAIPUR: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday slammed the Congress, terming it an "anti-Dalit" party, as he accused it of not letting leader of opposition Tikaram Ram Jully speak after the governor's address in the Assembly.

Speaking on the motion of thanks on the governor's speech in the assembly, Sharma said, "The leader of opposition hails from the Dalit community and the Congress did not let him speak as part of a conspiracy because the party is anti-Dalit."

Sharma also read out the names of past leaders of opposition in the assembly, saying none had been barred from speaking in the House.

Sharma took a dig at the Congress after the party decided to forgo Jully's speech on the governor's address, demanding a reply from the chief minister on cabinet minister Kirodi Lal Meena's allegations of phone-tapping.
