An unprecedented influx of devotees at the Maha Kumbh fair has caused massive traffic snarls, clogging almost all routes stretching across 20 to 40 kilometres of the city and posing a herculean challenge to police and security personnel to ensure law and order.

Ahead of the Maghi Purnima snan on Wednesday, the administration has braced itself for an acid test of the arrangements as 11 million devotees took a dip at the Sangam on Monday, according to the fair authorities.
