Samastipur: CM lauds Jeevika initiative, floats new projects

Revisiting the inception of the Jeevika initiative, under Bihar Rural Livelihood Project, in 2006, the chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar has exuded confidence about expansion of this project in urban pockets.

SAMASTIPUR: Revisiting the inception of the Jeevika initiative, under Bihar Rural Livelihood Project, in 2006, the chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar has exuded confidence about expansion of this project in urban pockets. Interacting with Jeevika Didis (self help group women) at Raipur village under Ujiarpur block in Samastipur in course of his last leg of Pragati Yatra in the second phase on Monday, the CM appreciated their growing confidence and lifestyle changes, noting that nearly 1.31 crore women are now connected through 10.61 lakh self-help groups. He also highlighted the expansion of Jeevika into urban areas, forming 26,000 groups with 3 lakh members.

During the visit, the CM also inaugurated the district level Emergency Response and Training Center (ERTC) and also inspected the newly constructed building and discussed its functions with officials.
