Maoist With ₹1L Bounty Killed in STF Encounter

A Maoist area commander, carrying a reward of ₹1 lakh on his head, was gunned down in an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) in Banka district late on Tuesday, police said, adding that a combing operation has been launched in Chlother forest areas of Katoria police station near the Jharkhand border.

The exchange of fire took place in a forest area when a team of the STF and Banka police was conducting an anti-Maoist operation. According to ground reports, the body of a Maoist dressed in uniform and a carbine were recovered from the site, located around 250 km southeast of the state capital.
