'Edu Nitish govt's focus area, yielding results'

Education minister Sunil Kumar on Monday said that ₹50,000 budget for expenditure to school head masters was meant for meeting recurring expenses, while the development work in schools would be done through the district magistrates on the basis of requirements, including what the elected representatives would point out.

Though the Opposition MLAs and some from the treasury benches also wanted that the school management committees should be made functional for expenditure in schools and protested, the minister said that he had himself written to all of them to send me the requirements of at least 10 schools in their respective areas and work was being done on them.

"On the basis of the list, restoration work in 863 schools has been completed, while the process is on for the rest, which would be completed in three months," he said, while speaking on the budgetary demand of education department after debate.
