Dry, hotter April likely owing to weak anticyclonic circulations

Bihar is set to face a hotter April this year, thanks to the delay in pre-monsoon showers, according to met officials.

Heatwave is likely to prevail in most parts of the state from the second week of this month and the spell would be three-four days more than last year. It may have adverse impact on bearing of mangoes and litchis, and also impact vegetable production, foresaw agricultural experts.

According to met scientists, formation of thunderstorms, which heralds pre-monsoon, has been hit by weakened anticyclonic circulations in the Bay of Bengal. "Anticyclonic circulations are getting dissipated at lower altitudes. And there is no likelihood that any stronger anticyclonic formations would emerge from the Bay of Bengal this month," said the met scientists, wishing not to be quoted.
