Cong picks Dalit as Bihar unit chief to try caste card

Two-term MLA from Kutumba Rajesh Kumar, a Dalit, has been made the new president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC), replacing Akhilesh Prasad Singh.
PATNA: Kumar is son of former MP Dilkeshwar Ram. A notification elevating Kumar was issued by AICC general secretary KC Venugopal.
The change, which was expected for the last few months, has been done in line with the Congress's bid to woo the marginalized sections, including the scheduled castes, extremely backward classes and other backward castes ahead of the assembly elections due this year.
