Army's JCO mistreated by cops; SHO suspended in Nalanda distt

The station house officer (SHO) of Telhara police station in Nalanda was suspended on Saturday after the allegations of police brutality against an army's JCO surfaced on Wednesday.

Based on the report filed by Patna range inspector general of police (IG) Garma Mallik, director general of police (DGP) Binay Kumar directed the Nalanda superintendent of police (SP) Bharat Soni to suspend the erring SHO.
The incident dates back to April 9, when an altercation broke out at Chandapur village under the jurisdiction of Telhara police station during a police raid at the residence of Mantu Kumar, the alleged rapist and sitting Sarpanch of Narayanpur Panchayat.
As the police failed to locate Mantu Kumar at his house, some personnel allegedly misbehaved with the women present. At that moment, Army Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Ajit Kumar, who was on leave from his posting in Amritsar, protested the police's behaviour during the midnight operation.
