NDA LEADERS SAID DELAYED LAUNCH OF MANIFESTO AIMS TO COUNTER GRAND ALLIANCE PROMISES WITH A FOCUS ON DEVELOPMENT

- Vijay Swaroop

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is planning to release its poll manifesto in the next few days, even as soon as Friday, an NDA leader said, but added that the Bharatiya Janata Party is also planning to announce its own pledges ahead of the assembly polls next month.

“There is a likelihood of the manifesto being released on October 30,” said a Janata Dal (United) leader.

However, a BJP leader, wishing not to be quoted, said that it could be released any day before the first phase on November 6, while a third senior leader from BJP said that the date will be decided after Union home minister Amit Shah visits the state on Wednesday.

His noble soul remains country’s inner monitor

I have no memories of the great man. As a two-three year old, I was lucky enough to have seen Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel many times. Including on his last birthday, on October 31, 1950, when my parents took me to his home to greet him and join a two-family photo-op. But all those real ‘sightings’ as I would like to think of them, have been wiped off my mind's screens.
