A standoff between the government and the Opposition over senior Congress leader and Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar's purported remarks on providing reservation to Muslims and changing the Constitution rocked Parliament on Monday, triggering multiple adjournments in both Houses.
NEW DELHI:
While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacked the Congress alleging it wanted to change the Constitution provided by Babasaheb BR Ambedkar to give religion-based reservation to appease the minority community, the principal opposition party accused the ruling party of raising a "fake issue" and indulging in disinformation to stall Parliament.
