Top industrialists join hands to set up new univ in Pune

Nayanta University, which received approval from state govt last week, is set to begin its academic journey in Aug 2025
MUMBAI: With the aim of transforming education in India, Nayanta University, an institution offering students the rare opportunity to opt for a combination of humanities and basic science subjects, is set to begin its academic journey in August 2025. Six years in the making, the university, which is located in Pune, will operate as a fully residential institution.
Nayanta has been co-founded by Naushad Forbes, CEO of Forbes Marshall and former President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder of Infosys and Axilor Ventures, Nadir Godrej, chairman of Godrej Industries, Ashok Misra, former director of IIT Bombay, Bharat Puri, managing director of Pidilite Industries, and Raj Dugar, managing director (Asia) at Eight Roads.
The collective aim of the founders is to provide a new path for higher education that integrates diverse fields and focuses on the development of ethical and responsible leaders.
