Cash found at judge's house: Report

Hindustan Times Navi Mumbai

May 08, 2025

A Supreme Court-appointed panel has confirmed allegations of discovery of cash at the residence of then Delhi high court judge, Justice Yashwant Varma, in its confidential inquiry report submitted to Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, people familiar with the matter said.

- Abraham Thomas

NEW DELHI:

The three-judge inquiry panel submitted its report on May 4 and the CJI forwarded it the same day to Justice Verma, who is now an Allahabad high court judge, seeking his response within "48 hours," the people said, requesting anonymity.

It was not immediately known if Justice Verma has responded to the CJI's letter. The high court judge had earlier denied presence of any cash and claimed "conspiracy" behind the alleged discovery.
