Despite Downgrades, India Set to Lead Global Growth: Govt
Hindustan Times Mumbai
|April 24, 2025
India continues to enhance its role as a key driver of global economic activities with reforms in infrastructure, innovation, and financial inclusion, the Union finance ministry said on Wednesday amid downward revisions of global growth forecasts by two international agencies.
NEW DELHI:
The World Bank on Wednesday said South Asia's growth prospects are "dimming" amid global uncertainty, which will also impact India. India's growth is expected to slow from 6.5% in 2024-25 to 6.3% in 2025-26 as the benefits to private investment from monetary easing and regulatory streamlining are expected to be offset by global economic weakness and policy uncertainty, the bank said in its latest edition of the South Asia Development Update.
