Every athlete aims to win a medal at the Olympics and it hurts a lot when they fail to do so for different reasons.

- Sharad Deep

LUCKNOW:

Meerut's sprinter Rupal Chaudhary is the true example of this as even after qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics, she couldn't go there as she fell ill.

That was really a big setback to Rupal's dream of winning a medal at the Olympics, especially after winning twin medals at the 2022 Under-20 World Junior Athletics and even after recovering from injury, which kept her off the track for almost a year in 2023.

Almost five months have gone by since the Paris Olympics in August, and for Rupal it's a fresh start, setting aside all the old memories of winning medals in juniors, an injury lay off and missing an appearance in the Olympics.

"I am not going to miss the next Olympics. For now, I am aiming to qualify for the World Athletics Championship this September in Tokyo. I have learnt many things since my twin medal win in 2023 and I am not going to repeat those mistakes ever in my life," said Rupal who has been training at the national camp at Thiruvananthapuram for the last two months.
