6-YEAR-OLD TIGER THAT KILLED WOMAN IN NAINITAL DISTT CAPTURED

Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday said that the state was moving ahead rapidly to realise its vision to become a drug-free state by 2025 under the drug-free Uttarakhand mission, 2025.
HALDWANI: A six-year-old tiger, which is suspected to have killed a 48-year-old woman, was captured in a cage at Okhaldhunga village in Nainital district on Friday night, officials aware of the matter said on Saturday.
After villagers alerted the forest department, a team rushed to the spot where a cage was installed and rushed the animal to the Dhela rescue centre, located at the Jim Corbett National Park.
Diganth Nayak, divisional forest officer (DFO) of Ramnagar forest division, said, "The trapped tiger is six years old. It is the same tiger that killed the woman. However, we will send its samples for tests to Wildlife Institute of India Dehradun for confirmation. The big cat was rushed to Dhela rescue centre after it was caged. The cage installed in the village has been removed."
