HC orders SIT to probe crush

The Madras High Court on Friday ordered setting up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the September 27 stampede during actor-politician Vijay's rally even as it ordered an interim injunction prohibiting political parties from holding public meetings or events on state and national highways in Tamil Nadu until Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are formulated.
The stampede on September 27 during a public rally led by Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay, resulted in the death of 41 people and left 60 others
