Gupta urges top bureaucrat to 'sensitise' officers to pay heed to elected leaders; AAP claims BJP getting taste of own medicine
NEW DELHI: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi on Thursday said that, despite a month having passed since a new government took shape in Delhi, women in the city were still waiting for the ₹2,500 monthly allowance promised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the assembly elections.
In a press conference at the AAP headquarters, Atishi said though the government formed a four-member committee 12 days ago, no decision was taken on the allowance. "When will registrations open and funds be deposited? Or is the BJP government planning to turn PM Modi's 'guarantee' into just another 'jumla'?" Atishi asked.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, said, "To deflect accountability in Punjab, where the AAP promised ₹1,000 monthly allowance to women, Kejriwal is making statements daily through Atishi and others."
NEW DELHI: A day after the Municipal Corporation of Delhi finalised budgetary allocations for various sectors for the next financial year, the Shikshak Nyay Manch Nagar Nigam, a teachers' union, on Thursday alleged that maintenance funds for the ongoing fiscal were yet to be released even though the current financial year will end on March 31.
In response, MCD said that its schools receive funds from the Union and Delhi governments to carry out maintenance.
"Assessment of funds for the last year is going on... Schools will send the report regarding scope of the repairs so that duplicity of the work can be avoided." HTC
