Key NDMC roads set to get ₹83.9 crore facelift by 2026

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is planning a comprehensive ₹83.9 crore revamp of key arterial roads in Lutyens’ Delhi.
The project will cover areas including the Connaught Place circles, Janpath, Sansad Marg, and KG Marg. It is being undertaken in consultation with the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI).
NDMC has issued five separate tenders for the recarpeting of five of its six road divisions: Connaught Place, R1, R2, R4, and R5. Officials stated that the bids will likely be finalised early next month.
An official said, “Bids for remaining roads will be issued soon and the overall project estimate cost will be around ₹92 crore.” The tentative deadline for completion is March 31, 2026, though this may depend on restrictions related to the Graded Response Action Plan (Grap).
The road assessment for the project was carried out by CRRI in January and February this year, covering 79 major revenue roads. A senior civic official confirmed that based on this survey, the redevelopment plan for entire New Delhi has been formulated. CRRI will also conduct third-party checks and supervision to ensure quality of work.
