Ex-inmate among 4 detained for siphoning ₹30L from jail account

Four people, including a former inmate of the Azamgarh division jail, have been detained for allegedly siphoning ₹30 lakh from the jail's bank account, police said on Saturday.
According to police, Ramjeet Yadav, a resident of Bilariaganj, was lodged in Azamgarh jail on February 24, 2023, in connection with the alleged murder of his wife. He was released on bail on May 20, 2024. On the day of his release, Yadav allegedly stole the chequebook of the jail's bank account with the help of another inmate.
