Residents rap GMDA over lack of pre-monsoon plantations

Residents of Gurugram have sent a complaint to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) for its failure to initiate tree plantation efforts ahead of the monsoon season, a crucial period for afforestation in the city.

In a letter addressed to the GMDA chief executive officer, the United Association of New Gurugram has raised concerns over the Urban Environment Division's (UED) inaction, warning that the neglect could worsen Gurugram's already dismal green cover and air quality.

Praveen Malik, vice president of the association, said in the letter that despite repeated appeals, no estimates have been prepared by GMDA for plantation activities this year.
