Cybercrime: 45% dip in cash stolen from residents

There has been a significant drop in the total amount of money city residents lost to cybercrimes in the first three months of the year in comparison to the corresponding period last year, Gurugram police officials said on Saturday.
GURUGRAM:
According to senior police officials, ₹118.87 crore was the amount which was duped by cyber criminals in the first three months of 2024 which has come down to ₹65.34 crore during the corresponding time this year, a dip of nearly 45%.
Besides, 629 suspects were arrested till March this year in comparison to 290 cyber criminals nabbed during the same time period last year.
Overall, 9,875 cybercrime complaints were received and 420 FIRs were registered between January and March this year while 9,891 complaints were received and 298 FIRs were registered last year.
