5 YEARS ON, F.I.R. AGAINST 5 OVER MINOR'S SUICIDE IN BURARI: COPS

More than four years after a 17-year-old student died by suicide in north Delhi's Burari, the Delhi Police have lodged an FIR against five of her friends, following a city court's April 26 directive.

NEW DELHI: More than a year after a 16-year-old student of Army Public School in Delhi died by suicide, police have filed a charge sheet against the school's former principal and class coordinator, alleging abetment to suicide.

The charge sheet was submitted recently before judicial magistrate (first class) Ravi at Patiala House Courts, following a complaint by the student's father, an army havildar. He alleged that his son was denied the admit card for the Class 10 board exams just two days before they were to begin, which caused him severe emotional distress.

The student's father further claimed that the principal and teacher misbehaved with the student's mother and demanded ₹10,000 as a fine for damaging a school desk — all of which, the father said, led the boy to take his own life.
