The Uttarakhand government conducted a test run of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) portal on Tuesday ahead of its rollout in the month-end, an official said.
DEHRADUN:
Home secretary Shailesh Bagauli said, "We conducted the test run of the UCC portal to check the readiness before its roll-out by the end of this month. The Common Service Centre (CSC) employees, registrars and sub registrars participated in the drive. We are ready to implement the UCC."
The trial run came a day after the Uttarakhand cabinet passed the UCC manual.
Officials aware of the matter said that under the UCC rules, the state government has prepared a portal providing an online platform for registration of marriages, divorces, rights of inheritance, live-in relationships, termination of live-in relationships, through which every citizen will be able to get himself/herself registered using his/her mobile phone.
To make the registration process simple, the CSC have been authorised by the state government to carry out the registration through online platform. In hilly/remote areas where internet facilities are not available, CSC agents will go door-to-door to provide the above facilities.
