Smriti guides India to record win over Aus
Hindustan Times Delhi
|September 18, 2025
When Smriti Mandhana scores big, the Indian women's cricket team seldom finishes on the losing side—10 of her 12 ODI tons have now come in wins, On Wednesday, riding high on the left-handed opener’s dazzling 91-ball 117, the India logged an impressive 102-run win over Australia to level the series 1-1.
Australia chased down 282 to win the opener but India’s 292 proved to be a bit too much for them this time around as they were bowled out for 190 in the 41st over. The last time India defeated Australia in an ODI was in Mumbai way back in 2007 under Mithali Raj.
Mandhana, who made 58 in the first match before being run out, made sure to stay at the crease for as long as possible on Wednesday. Her classy 77-ball ton, with 14 fours and four sixes, was the second-fastest by an Indian. Mandhana also holds the record for the fastest (off 70 balls vs Ireland)
