Plea in SC seeks FIR against justice Varma

A group of lawyers has petitioned the Supreme Court, seeking registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Delhi high court justice Yashwant Varma, from whose residence a large sum of cash was recovered in March this year.
NEW DELHI: The lawyers have also demanded the court to make public the report of an inquiry panel set up by the top court against justice Varma.
Former chief justice Sanjeev Khanna had initiated the process for the removal of justice Varma, by writing to the President of India Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that the allegations of recovery of cash at the judge's residence is serious and warrants initiation of proceedings for his removal under the Constitution.
