The Karnataka government’s decision to invite Booker Prizewinning poet Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara festival on September 22 has triggered sharp criticism from BJP leaders, who questioned her selection on religious grounds.
But in a notable divergence, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the Mysuru royal descendant and BJP MP from Mysuru-Kodagu, welcomed the choice while urging sensitivity to tradition.
