If you thought self-deprecating humour was solely the domain of filmmakers Farah Khan and Zoya Akhtar, Aryan Khan has just raised the stakes.
His directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, arrived with the kind of hype only a superstar’s son and a galaxy of A-list cameos can generate. The question is: does it live up to expectations?
The story follows Aasmaan (Lakshya), an 'outsider' whose first film under Sodawallah Productions (run by Freddy, played by Manish Prakash Chaudhari) becomes a surprise hit. He signs a three-film contract with Freddy, only to be simultaneously offered a project directed by Karan Johar. His heroine here is Karishma (Sahher Bammba), daughter of reigning superstar Ajay (Bobby Deol). Trouble begins when Ajay disapproves of Lakshya and does everything possible to edge him out.
